Reduce Anxiety with the Combo of Mindful Meditation and Essential Oils

You have probably noticed now more than ever before, people are experiencing greater feelings of stress and anxiousness.   Anxiety can affect our well-being in many ways and is one of the primary triggers that cause us to not get going with our healthy lifestyle plans. Do you find yourself in any of these situations:
  • Can’t find the motivation to hit the gym?
  • Having trouble staying focused on the tasks at hand?
  • Find yourself eating fast food or comfort foods after a hard day?
There has been a lot of debate on what methods are most effective in managing those feelings. Peruvian scientists designed an experimental study to find whether aromatherapy combined with meditation is more effective than either method alone. While aromatherapy and meditation alone both yielded significantly reduced anxious feelings, when practiced simultaneously, the effect was greatly increased. The results of this study support the use of essential oils to augment stress management techniques, such as meditation.

Let's talk about mindful meditation. This is something that I am constantly trying to work on and improve. And to be honest, most days it's soooo hard to stay focused when you have a thousand things going on and the world seems to be in a crazy spin.
Meditation is a powerful tool that has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue. Spending just 10 minutes a day meditating and re-centering your mind has massive benefits. If you don’t have 10 mins, take 10 seconds 3 or 4 times throughout your day.

Mindful meditation is a simple method that includes sitting in a peaceful environment, paying attention to breathing patterns, and allowing one’s attention to wander for a fixed amount of time.

To use Aromatherapy and Mindful Meditation together, find a quiet place in your home, diffusing your favorite grounding essential oil blend while you meditate, and letting your mind wander for a few minutes. If you don’t have a diffuser or will be outside simply put a couple drops of the essential oil of choice into the palm of your hand. Rub both palms together and then cup your hands over your nose. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth for the best results.

I've included my top meditation oils. And a tip – Once you have decided upon an essential oil, choose the same oil as often as you can when you meditate. Specific scents will often transport your mind. And if you associate a certain oil with meditation it can help make meditation easier. The best way to use oils during meditation can be topically or in a diffuser, or both! I'm a big fan of using both. ways!
