Essential Oils to Boost Your Immune System

It’s that time of the year when the leaves are turning, the air is a crispy cool and cold and flu season is coming.
Experts agree that the reason why this period is labeled as cold and flu season is not because people feel cold, per se, but because most of us tend to spend more time indoors – making us within a spitting distance to each other and more susceptible to germs that spread bacteria and viruses! Yew!!

With all that has been transpiring these last several years, you may already be thinking that strengthening your immune system is something that needs to be addressed all year round. And you are correct. By addressing the day to day things you are able to do puts you and your family in a much healthier place.

Essential oils are made of certain molecules that can boost the immune system as a whole. Compared to over-the-counter medication which is produced with the sole purpose of targeting one specific disease-causing agent, essential oils come with different qualities all at the same time. They are made of molecules that kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses and at the same time boost the production of blood cells. Relying on essential oils helps prevent the disease-causing agents from finding their way inside.

There are many essential oils that have properties which help to boost your immune system.
Here are a few to get you started:

Cinnamon Bark -The most important properties you’re looking for in an essential oil for immune support are antibacterial and antiseptic. Cinnamon has both of those properties Its antimicrobial power is strong enough to reduce the number of pathogens inside you.
Be careful though, Cinnamon is considered a “hot” oil, which means you’ll need to always dilute it to use it safely.

Clove is one of the most potent antioxidant essential oils available. Its scent is slightly strong and may need some getting used to. It’s also a “hot” oil so please remember to dilute it to ensure you stay away from skin irritations.

Eucalyptus This is yet another oil that is effective in treating immunity problems. You can rely on this oil to deal with problems related to the respiratory tract. You can also use it in therapeutic baths and as an inhaler.

Lemon naturally has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying properties. It invigorates your whole body and the result is an improved immune system. Your body should be able to better fight diseases once the immune system has regained its strength.
Lemon oil also has antiseptic properties so it can be used on wounds and cuts to kill germs before they even get into the body It is also a natural disinfectant and can be used as a natural cleaning product such as an All Purpose Cleaner Spray or air freshener spray.

Tea Tree or Melaleuca Essential Oil, is best known for its purifying qualities, which makes it useful for cleansing the skin, home surfaces, and purifying the air. This oil is among the most versatile oils out there that has antimicrobial properties. It is an effective decongestant and expectorant, and popular in many home remedies. Whether it’s for your immune system, or for treating acne, cold sores, or cough and chest congestion, tea tree is an oil to have in your medicine cabinet.

Peppermint has a pretty strong aroma, it’s pleasant on the airways and soothing on the respiratory system. Peppermint has antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, which help to combat viral and fungal infections. It is suitable for direct inhalation, steam bowls, diffusion, diluted topical application and some brand can be taken internally.

Oregano is rich in antioxidants and an effective pathogen fighter, which means it fights bacteria, viruses, and other microorganism that can cause disease.
This is the oil is known to be one of the most effective when it comes to boosting the immune system. Some experts believe it is even more powerful than antibiotics. One advantage of essential oils is that they are natural so they don’t come with side effects like chemically engineered drugs do.
Since oregano is strongly concentrated, moderation and dilution is also recommended to avoid unfavorable results.

The Protective Blend is a powerful proprietary blend that supports healthy immune function when used internally* and contains cleansing properties. It is a combination of Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Leaf, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Leaf, and Rosemary Leaf/Flower essential oils. When these oils are combined together, they create a synergy that makes them more powerful than if used individually.
This is my favorite to use for boosting my Immune System.

Internal use is by far the best way to support your immune system. However, not all oils or brands are safe to take internally. Please don’t expect that all oils are created equal. They are not. For an essential oils to truly be effective, it needs to be grown with care & no pesticides, harvested at the right time & distilled at the proper temperatures. It needs to be in-house and also third party tested on 17 or more levels to make sure the complexity of the compounds are intact and there are no impurities or alterations.
